Gunpowder Golf Course

History

Designed and built by Robert “Bob” Milligan, Gunpowder Golf Course, operated by the Milligan family since 1956, holds the distinction of being the oldest golf course in Prince George’s County. This 18-hole, Par 70 course spans 6061 yards, featuring narrow fairways leading to small, undulating greens.

The full 18 hole course offers a scenic challenge with tree-lined, hilly holes with scattered water elements throughout that demand patience and accuracy. The course prioritizes preserving its natural setting, providing a habitat for local wildlife.

In 1979, Gunpowder Golf Course partnered with The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, aiming to make golf more affordable and accessible to the community. As part of Fairland Regional Park, it continues to be a go-to destination for recreational golf in the area.
